Yes, you did

Thank you, Obama volunteers. You delivered this election from the worst of the worst.

I want to believe Obama is a good guy. He sounds like a good guy. I will find out on January 21st: either the International Committee of the Red Cross will be in GITMO with access to every single prisoner, or they won't. Either he will order that due process of law begin immediately for every single prisoner, or he won't. Either he will order the prosecution of all those who were involved in torture and secret detentions, or he will not.

I'm a values voter. These are the things that matter to me. If he fixes the economy and the health care system, but our nation is still a safe haven for those who would torture and disappear others in the service of the state, then this election was lost after all.

In other news, it's a damn shame that California and Florida have passed their hate legislation. I guess the brain drain to MA will continue—maybe we can be the new Silicon Valley. It's nice and all, but it's driving my rent up. Anyway, if any families need to take refuge, we've got some couch space.

There Will Be Games (Revised)

Attention, humans! There is a thing.

But wait! It is a different thing now. For lo, our guest of honor forgot her boyfriend's birthday; and so it shall be (this having been discussed with everyone we heard back from)
